Re-appointment of six committee members

The Scientific Advisory Committee on Nutrition (SACN) are pleased to announce the re-appointment of the following members:

Professor Hilary Powers                 4 years from 1 November 2012
Professor Angus Walls                  4 years from 1 November 2012
Professor Susan Lanham-New        3 years from 1 November 2012
Professor Harry McArdle                 3 years from 1 November 2012
Professor Julie Lovegrove              3 years from 1 November 2012
Professor Ian Young                     4 years from 1 November 2012

The offer of appointment will continue to be for a time commitment of three main meetings per year and the meetings of any Subgroup or Working Group, of which members have been or may be asked to join and they will be remunerated at a daily rate of £160 and paid expenses in line with Department of Health policy.

These re-appointments have been made in accordance with the Code of Practice for ministerial appointments to public bodies, issued by the Commissioner for Public Appointments. However, in accordance with the original Nolan recommendations, there is a requirement for appointees’ political activity (if any declared) to be made public. None of the members declared political activity and they hold no other Ministerial appointments. 

The SACN are grateful for the continued interest of these SACN members and are pleased to retain their experience and expertise on the Committee.
